Being socially active with others is known to be healthy for your body and mind. Studies have found those who are not interactive with others often have health problems including depression.
What if like me you love people but prefer solitude to group activities?
In the 90s, I took a Myers Briggs test and was stunned by the results that I am an ‘Extroverted Introvert’. I was always a people person, I loved being with people, entertaining, leading groups. I was never shy about speaking out at meetings. I took the test a few weeks later. Same results. Extroverted Introvert.
About 6 years ago, I became aware that I prefer my alone time. I realized groups sucked my energy. I would leave a group meeting or get together and wonder why I went and couldn't wait to get home to my solitude.
I enjoy people. I love having friends but mostly on a one on one outing. Social media suits me perfectly. I can interact with others in the comfort of home and when I want to withdraw, I close the program.
I also love being with family and am happy going home to my comfort zone

At 81, I feel I have the best social environment for me.
